How do I pay for my Spanish courses and/or familystay?

You may pay with US $, Euros, travellers checks, and credit or debit cards.

Do I have to begin my classes on a Monday? What about family stays?

You may begin your Spanish classes any day Monday-Friday, and you will be billed only for those those days that you studied. If you are staying with a Guatemalan family, as well, you can begin any day you wish, and even before your first day of class. For example, if you arrive on a Thursday, and do not wish to begin your classes till Monday, you can still stay with the family from the moment you arrive saving you the expense of having to seek out a hotel or hostal.

Do you offer weekend classes?

At this time we do not offer weekend classes, but we may in the future.

Do I need to bring any special materials?

You will be provided with textbooks and workbooks for you to keep. You may want to bring a condensed Spanish dictionary, and if you have extra space, a copy of Barron's 501 Spanish verbs - the most common Spanish verbs fully congegated. There are bookstores in Antigua in case you do not wish to carry these items.

How many hours a day do most students study?

Four hours a day is most common; however, we do have some that choose to study six to eight hours per day. Don't worry, you can change your schedule at any time.

Do I have to change my teacher each week? Should I change?

It is totally up to you. All of our teachers are excellent, many with over 20 years of experience, however, personaltiies and teaching styles of course vary. If you are really enjoying your teacher, don't change. But if you would like to try someone else, do so!

Can the host families prepare vegetarian meals?

Absolutely! The quality and variety of vegetables in this country is astounding. All of our families are very accustomed to cooking specials meals for vegetarians.

I am allergic to pets! Can I request a family that does not have pets?

Some of our families have pets, others do not. Simply let us know your preference and we will be glad to arrange it for you.

Can I change my host family if I do not like it?

If you, for whatever reason, would like to change your host family, we can arrange it for you the following day.

Do the host families have a curfue?

The host families do not have curfues. You will be given a set of keys upon your arrival and you may come and go as your please. If you are arriving late to the house, please try to keep noise to a minimum. As well, you are not allowed to bring guests to the house to spend the night, unless it is previously arranged with the family.
